Frequently asked questions.
Do I have to be a singer/ creative/ performer to take part in your yoga classes and sound baths?
The short answer: NO.
The long answer: I use the tools of Yoga & Sound within my Holistic Voice practice & research in order to support performers, and offerings aimed at singers/ performers/ creatives will always be clearly marked as such in the name or description. My public Yoga Classes & Sound Baths are open to everyone. I also now have two separate mailing lists, to avoid confusion when I’m sharing my latest offerings with you!
What style of Yoga do you teach?
I teach yoga with the intention of helping you quieten the mind, shift the energy in your body and come back to your authentic self. I am trained in Hatha, Yin, Nidra and Mandala Vinyasa but first and foremost my teaching is guided by the people in the space and what you need.
It's a privilege to share this beautiful practice with you.
What is Sound Healing?
Everything in the universe has a vibrational frequency; it's just that our human ears can only hear so much. The vibrations of sound waves have been used in cultures throughout history to release tension, trauma and negative energy from the body. There's a reason you cry when you hear a sad song, or another makes you want to dance! In a sound healing session, or 'sound bath', we use breath and meditation to come to a relaxed state, and receive the healing vibrations. All you have to do is show up, get cosy and be open to the experience.
What instruments do you use for your Sound Baths?
I use a mixture of clear quartz and Crystal Tones alchemy singing bowls. Quartz is a pure crystal known for amplification and clarity; and so paired with intention is extremely powerful. Crystal Tones Alchemy bowls combine clear quartz with other crystals, metals and elements, which gives each a unique healing quality. The bowls all have different notes and frequencies which can affect parts of the body, and indeed people, in different ways. I also use my singing voice, and may weave in other instruments such as harmonium, tingsha bells, sansula and koshi wind chimes.
Do I need to bring anything to yoga classes/ sound baths/ workshops?
YES. I will always detail what you need to bring with you on the info page of any session, but as a rule, you'll probably need a yoga mat, a water bottle and to wear comfortable clothing! If I'm teaching a session for a studio, sometimes mats are provided. Please check with the studio.

How do online Voice lessons work?
The magic of technology means we're not limited by distance, and wherever you are in the world we can still work together.
I use Zoom for my online sessions. I request that you have a quiet space, room to move and if possible a yoga mat! In your settings, it's best to have 'original sound for musicians' ON. You don't need a special microphone unless that's something you already have. I would request that you have any backing tracks for songs you're working on ready to play through a separate speaker to the one on the device you're using. This will allow me to hear you properly. I may send links to warm ups/ exercises on youtube, or play them my end, and ask you to mute yourself as you join in. This will reduce feedback and any timing issues.
I’m having technical difficulties with your website- can you help?
Firstly please make sure your browser is up to date (Google chrome is best) and that you’ve cleared all cookies and cache. Please also ensure that you have a stable internet connection. If the issue continues please send me a screen shot or photo of the issue to eleanor@eleanor-walker.co.uk and I will do my best to help.
